Artificial intelligence

Vidia uses artificial intelligence to create your videos and to review photos. This page explains what it does, what you can expect and how to recognise a video made with AI, as required by article 50 of the European Artificial Intelligence Act.

Which models we use

Google Veo 3.1 creates the video from your photo, the effect you choose and your instructions. The Essential level uses Veo 3.1 Lite in 720p and the HD level uses Veo 3.1 Fast in 1080p.
Google Gemini reviews the photos and instructions before creating the video, as explained in Acceptable use.
The sound in the video is also generated by AI.

What you can expect

Each video is a recreation, not a recording. The AI may change details of the face, hands, clothes or background, invent movements that were not in the photo or make mistakes. That is why we include a free redo and refund your money if the video cannot be created.

How we mark the videos

Invisible watermark. All videos carry SynthID, Google's watermark. It cannot be seen, it does not spoil the image and it survives cropping, filters and compression.
Metadata. The MP4 file states that it is content generated with AI according to the IPTC standard and names Vidia and Google Veo.
Preview. Before downloading it you see the video with the Vidia logo on top. The file you download does not have it, but it keeps the invisible watermark and the metadata.
Your part. Do not remove or alter these marks.

How to check whether a video is made with AI

Upload the video to Google's Gemini app and ask it whether it was created or edited with Google AI. Gemini detects the SynthID watermark. The metadata can be read with any file metadata tool.

Responsible use

If you publish a realistic video of people, places or events that could seem authentic, state that it was generated with AI. If you use it in your professional activity, for example in ads, this is a legal obligation under article 50.4 of the European Artificial Intelligence Act.
Never use a video to make someone believe that a person said or did something that did not happen.

Human oversight

The automatic review decides whether a video is created. If you disagree, a person reviews the decision when you ask us to. How to do this is explained in Acceptable use.

Your data and AI

We use your photo only to create and review your video. Neither Vidia nor Google uses it to train models, because we use Google's paid services, in which Google acts as a processor. Google deletes the generated videos from its servers after 2 days. The details are in the Privacy policy.
